A message from Addia Wuchner

Dear Boone County Friends,

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of serving as your State Representative.

I believe the strength of Boone County and our state is found in the individuals and families that form the fabric of our community. I share your traditional values and hopes for our children and grandchildren.

Serving as your representative in Frankfort, I fought for excellence in education, improved health care for children and seniors, and stood up for meaningful support for our military families, Second Amendment rights and prevention of child abuse and fatalities from abuse and neglect. I have worked to lower taxes and voted against burdensome regulations. In the last budget cycle I stood firm against $1 billion in new debt and $300 million in job-killing taxes.

People often ask me how I decide to vote on the various bills that are before the legislature. The answer to that question is simple. The people of my district elected me because we share a similar vision and philosophy of government. That philosophy of government guides me in the decisions I make on a daily basis. It provides a road map for the path I take as I work to move our state forward.

As a conservative, my belief in the limited role of government acts as my guiding principle. Simply put, the role of state government is to empower people to take care of themselves, while being aware that government must also provide a safety net for those who cannot care for themselves. I evaluate every piece of legislation that comes before me with that in mind, asking two essential questions: What is the underlying problem the bill is attempting to solve? Is it the role of state government to solve this problem?

As I approach every vote, no matter how contentious or personally challenging, I take comfort in knowing you are there to support me in the battle to defend our values and our freedoms.

My Kentucky roots run deep. My family was granted land in Kentucky after the Revolutionary War. I love our state, her people, her vast resources and her beauty. I want our children and grandchildren to believe they are blessed to call Kentucky home and to know that they have every opportunity to succeed.

Be assured that I will continue to work to lead Boone County and our state to a brighter and more prosperous future.

Thank you again for your trust in me, and God Bless.
