I would like to thank everyone who joined us this morning for Spring Clean Sweep NKY! Just as drug addiction often begins in the medicine cabinet, our spring cleaning needs to start there as well.
The collaboration and commitment of our Northern Kentucky community as we work together to combat opioid misuse and heroin abuse and addiction is evident by all of those gathered here today- my friend and colleague State Representative Kim Moser, Boone Co. Sheriff Helmig, Kenton Co. Sheriff Korzenborn, Campbell Co. Sheriff Janson, Dr. Saddler and everyone at our NKY Independent Health Department, Judge Ex Gary Moore, Boone County Schools Superintendent Dr. Poe, members of the prevention and recovery community , special guess Josh Cobb for sharing his personal journey from the medicine cabinet to a live threading heroin/ carfentanil overdose, to the road of recovery.
A special word of thanks and recognition to to Maillinckrodt Pharmaceuticals for their generous donation of 6,000 specialized drug disposal pouches which incorporate a patented technology to neutralize the active ingredients in opioid painkillers and other drugs in pill, liquid and transdermal patch forms.
These Medication disposal pouches are safe, effective, easy to use and provide one more option to protect our communities by making sure that unused prescription pain medications and narcotics are disposed of safely and are not accidentally or intentionally misused.
